Antenna

So sad to hear about Antenna Hair Salon closing down last week after 30 years! The end of an era.

This is where extensions started in the 80′s by a man called Simon Forbes. Simon changed the hairdressing world by introducing monofibre hair extensions. I started working there when i was 18 years old and I had the most amazing training and experience.

From New York fashion week to doing Elle Macphearson, Belinda Carlisle, Mick Hucknall and many more. The picture shows some work we did back stage at one of our shoots i found it in my archive… Memories.

Thank you Antenna and Simon Forbes. I would not be this person today without you!

I worked at Antenna from 1986 – 1990 travelling to America many times to the Atlanta trade fares and to teach hair extensions. Yesterday April 2nd 2012 I took my eighteen year old son to London, we stopped at Ken church St. so that I could show him where I had worked…I was so sad and shocked to find nothing but a skip outside and a fading Antenna stencil on the upstairs window. I have so many happy memories of my time in the salon, the friends I made, not forgetting the amazing hairstyles we created. I am very keen to know why Antenna has closed or to get in touch with anyone who worked there when I did.
